Annotation:

Transmembrane potential of a living cell. Mechanisms of generation of resting and action potentials Alexi Zviadadze An electrical potential is formed around the inner and outer surfaces of the membranes of all living cells. It is of great importance for the functioning of the membrane and the cell itself, as well as for the functioning of the nervous system. The paper discusses the structure and functions of the membrane, the mechanisms and reasons for forming the membrane potential, the method of calculating the potential and its importance for the cell. The article discusses the phases of rest and action, as well as the mechanisms of discharge, what diseases are caused by the violation of the potential difference generation mechanism. Various diagrams and graphs are also provided that clearly show the complete cycle of potential difference generation, equations that allow us to calculate various physical quantities that are closely related to membrane potential.
