The Concept for Sustainable Development Goals emerged in 2012 at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development - Rio + 20. It aims to offer a world-wide agenda that balances the three dimensions of development - the environmental, social and economic spheres. The UN member states adopted the Sustainable Development Goals at the Sustainable Development Summit on September 25-27, 2015 in New York (USA).
