New method for quantitative determination of sesquiterpenoic acids in Valeriana roots based on high-performance liquid chromatography

The goal of the present study was developing of a new fast method for quantitative determination of sesquiterpenic acids in the roots of medicinal plant of Valeriana. The high-performance liquid chromatography method was developed based on a new superficially porous silica technology. The analysis time with the new method compared to the method recommended by European Pharmacopoeia was reduced from 24 minutes down to 4 minutes. The consumption of the mobile phase was reduced almost 10 times. Thus, the new method is not only fast but also “green”.
